~ Great guy, good husband, mediocre chef, lousy with directions, keen MTB rider

Yip, on a personal note that about sums me up. I love a challenge, a cold beer, a great football game and spending time with family and friends. I enjoy good constructive conversation, spectacular mountain bike trails and travelling (when I get the time). Please don’t try and sell me crazy! I prefer a simple, modest and peaceful existence. Hold on a second. Is that even possible in the 21st Century? Maybe not entirely but that’s what I’m aiming for so let me hold onto the dream a little longer.

So what really drives me on the business front?  I guess I’m the type of person that likes creating an expectation and delivering on it. Sure I’m lousy at a few things, but I’m passionate about more. Good old fashion service delivery is one that ranks very high on my list of business priorities (I have a few fresh ideas on this topic for government, so does anybody know if President Zuma is on twitter?). Need it done and I will get it done. Have a problem, I’ll sort it out. I’m just one of those personality types. Is it a blessing or a curse..? To be honest, perhaps both, but I’ve directed this “need to please” energy into at least one place I know it’s appreciated and very much required. Our own growing financial services business.

Since I started in the insurance game back in 2001 at the tender age of 23 (still wet behind the ears), my aim has always been to deliver honest advice and speedy service delivery. And that’s how Lawrence and I slowly built our business. One satisfied client at a time. The problem of course is that over and above being painfully pedantic about client service I’m also fiercely independent. Lawrence is probably more independent, so the match was right and our partnership imminent.

After bumping heads with numerous financial services companies for several years we decided on a whim (over a couple of cold beers and a braai) to ditch the corporate veil and head out on our own. The whole employer – employee relationship just wasn’t working for us anymore. It was time to leave the nest and learn how to fly on our own.

Oh, we really did “wing it” (excuse the pun) at first. Armed only with a couple of laptops and a fixed Telkom landline (who doesn’t in the early stages of a business), busting our guts to add every new client to our books. But our enthusiasm and commitment to building our business the way we wanted it done has seen us not only remain in the industry, but exponential grow our clientele and start establishing a footprint in the local broker industry.

Moving forward the sky is really the limit. Technology is pushing the boundaries and allowing us to move our business forward in ways we never thought possible. Our aim is to take the valuable knowledge we’ve acquired over the years and share it. We want to use our blogging platform to spread the word. Insurance no longer needs to be a dirty word. You no longer need to continue taking advice on money matters from colleagues at the water cooler during your lunch break.  The 21st century is about information sharing.

Let’s chat insurance. Let us provide you with good honest advice. Let insurancefundi be the first place you turn to for advice moving forward…
