This weekend I was reminded why life insurance is so important. Here today and gone tomorrow! What got me thinking about all of this was the tragic incident at the Witbank dam in Mpumalanga on Friday afternoon where several Sasol employees lost their lives when a year-end company pleasure- cruise turned deadly. It’s a terribly sad story and I feel for the family members left behind. Actually the picture of the bereaved family member on the side of the dam in yesterday’s paper tore me up completely. One minute you are enjoying a cold beer with a colleague, celebrating the year’s achievements, the next you are submerged in merky water fighting for your life. It just goes to prove one thing – You never know when your number is up!
Six people had their lives cut short on Friday afternoon. Life can be cruel like that. We have everything mapped out, planned to the tee, then out of nowhere it all gets snuffed out in a second. Some of us will live to the ripe old age of 85 and a few of us won’t live another 5 years. That is the lottery of life. Nobody knows whose number is up today. It could be yours, it might be mine.
If it’s my number that’s up today, be rest assured I have a contingency plan in place. Do you?
If you don’t have life insurance in place, it’s time to wise up and get your house in order. There is no excuse anymore. If this tragic incident doesn’t prove to you that life is fleeting, I’m not sure what will. To be perfectly honest, if you have kids that need to be looked after & debts than need to be settled on your passing and you don’t have life insurance in place, you are being selfish and you need your head read..
Sorry.. It might seem a little harsh, but it’s the truth!
It’s all about a little planning. Sure we can’t plan for everything, but dying before our time is a reality. It can happen to anyone. So get some life insurance in place today. The minimum premium nowadays is a R150 per month… which is the equivalent of one less take-out in a month. Save yourself the extra calories and buy yourself some essential insurance.
